Success stories

  • Krishnamsamy , aged 60, is a widower from Korukkai village. He has a son. However, his son refused to take care of him and thus he became helpless. He himself came up and requested us to enroll him in the old age home. He was in a depressed state of mind when he joined the home. With constant counseling, proper food, love and care, he is now happy and living a peaceful life.
  • Amirthavalli , aged 58, is a widow from Ammanur village, Thiruthuraipoondi. After her husband’s death, she had nobody to support her. All her relatives deserted her. On knowing about the Home for the aged run by at Bharathamatha Mettupalyam, Thiruthuraipoondi, she herself requested to be enrolled in the home. As she was helpless and her case was genuine, Bharathamatha immediately admitted her in the home. She was depressed over her deplorable condition for which she was given medical counseling. And now, she has access to safe roof with proper food and clothes in our home. There are other inmates like her, who shower their attention and care to her. She no more feels lonely and is happy now at the home for the aged.
  • T.Karthi was born in the year 1991. He did not cry for the first three months after his birth. He was unable to talk coherently and would blabber meaninglessly. He studied till fifth standard in a government primary school but was unable to write anything. His parents were much worried about his future and they brought him to our Home for Special Children. After proper diagnosis, it was found out that he was suffering from Cerebral Palsy. Then, our special educators took charge of him. With constant training and exercises on preliminary speech and writing, he started speaking and writing. He is, at present, taking care of himself and does not need support from others to do morning ablutions, bathing and dressing. His teachers, at the special school, report that his behavior is good and he tries to talk coherently.
  • Ishwarya M, aged 9, was born into a very poor family in a small village called Thirukkalaar, Mannargudi, Thiruvarur District and her parents are illiterate. When she was born and during her initial years, she was like any other child but, was unable to speak until the 6th year. Stunted physique and meaningless speech by her made her parents worried. They did not know what to do and finally they brought her to the special home run by us. We diagnosed her problem with a Pediatrician and it was found out that she was suffering from Down Syndrome and mild Mental Retardation. On knowing her problem, we taught her speech and writing exercises with special educators trained in handling Mentally retarded children. She was slowly taught as to how to keep herself clean, to take bathing, washing her hands after meals etc. She has been given Motor nerve inducing exercises to stimulate her brain activities. With proper care and food, she has been showing good improvement in her behavior and learning activities. She has started writing on her own. She is friendly with other children in the home.
